Updates for 2026-2027 School Year


Barberton City Schools participates in the USDA National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Every meal served is in compliance with all nutritional requirements set forth by the USDA.
 
Great news! Our district will be participating in the CEP program for the 26-27 school year. This means that all students, PreK-12, are eligible for free breakfast and lunch! Every meal served supports the effort to keep this program in place. We encourage all students to participate everyday! 

We are excited to be able to offer this to all of our students and hope to continue in years to come – Every Magic Counts!

Milk comes with each meal. We offer your children the opportunity to purchase milk only a la carte for $0.50. We encourage them to take 2 or more additional items, one being a fruit or vegetable. This counts as a complete meal and is no charge!

Breakfast and Lunch will be served starting on the first day of school at all buildings.

Food Allergies

If your student has a change in allergy, please update your student's FinalForms. Go to the Past & Ongoing Health Conditions page, Allergies, Food Allergies Yes and list the specific allergy in the comment box. Also remove any allergies that are no longer applicable. We will be able to update our system to notify our cashiers immediately.

You may also click here to access the Nursing Services web page and locate the appropriate form for your situation. Return these forms to the school nurse in your building. The nurse will inform the cafeteria of your situation and Food Service will put a note on their meal account. 

Substitutions for students with issues consuming milk or who are lactose intolerant will only be considered if the child has a fatal allergy and a Doctor’s note saying what the substitution should be, which could be water or juice.  Contact Marcia Kuhns at 330-753-1025 ext. 13107 if you have any questions.

Other Costs:
  • Adult Breakfast: $3.00
  • Adult Lunch: $5.00
  • Extra Milk for all schools: $0.50
A la carte options are also available at an additional price.
Staffing
Our Food Service Staff has 12 employees who are certified in Level II Food Protection. They hold ServSafe Certificates.  All Food Service Staff completed Level I training in March 2025. We have Food Safety training scheduled for all our staff in August 2026. This remains a high priority for our department.  We are well prepared to serve your children safely.

Computerized Point of Sale
All schools in our district use a computerized point of sale, which allows parents and guardians to deposit money into their student’s meal account electronically. All of our students have been assigned a student ID number, which they should have memorized. They will keep the same ID number from Preschool all the way through 12th grade. All students will receive a Student ID card in the first week of school that may be used to scan instead of entering their ID number at the pinpad.  All students should carry their student ID cards with them. The point of sale system contains a student database, which will include a picture of the student along with the student’s information, including their account balance and allergy information. This system is called:  PaySchools Central.

Barberton City Schools offers PaySchools Central as a central payment portal for parents and guardians.  You can pay for your student's school meals, add a la carte money, and pay school fees securely and quickly.  No more lost cash or checks! Create your account at: https://www.payschoolscentral.com.  If you want to use your mobile device, download the PaySchoolsCentral app on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Some additional points to remember are listed below:
  • We prefer parents and guardians to use PaySchoolsCentral for their meal payments. 
  • You can also send a check, cash, or money order for purchases in a sealed envelope payable to your school's cafeteria. (Example: Barberton High School Cafeteria) 
  • Please include the information below on the sealed envelope.
    • Your student’s name and Student ID number
    • Amount enclosed 
  • Checks and money orders for school meals should not be combined with school fees payments. These are separate.

  • Any unpaid student balance at the end of the school year will be transferred over to Student Fees. All student fees must be paid prior to graduation.
  • If you have a positive balance in your student meal account at the time of withdrawal or graduation, please contact us to request a refund or to transfer funds to another student. Any remaining funds after 90 days will be contributed to the Barberton City Schools Angel Fund to assist students in need of meals.
  • For students to purchase A la Carte (extra) items, they must have cash in hand or money on their meal accounts.
