Mission Statement

Barberton City Schools Food Service believes a well nourished child is better prepared to learn. Learning healthy eating habits at an early age is essential for a life-long healthy and productive lifestyle.  Our staff is committed to excellence in providing safe, nutritious breakfast and lunch menus daily to all students.

Updates for 2020-2021 School Year

Due to the many uncertainties for School Year 20-21 Food Service may look different this year.  We want you to know we are in close contact with the Summit County Board of Health.  We are reviewing all cleaning products and procedures throughout our kitchens. We are staying informed about Covid-19 through the CDC, the Ohio Department of Health, and our local health departments.

Our Food Service Staff has 13 employees certified in Level II Food Protection holding ServSafe Certificates, all certified in 2020. All Food Service Staff completed Level I training in February 2020.  We are well prepared to serve your children.

Food Service is investigating options for our students to receive a meal without having to touch a pinpad to input their student ID number.  We are looking into alternative means to serve the meals using different containers and locations.  Although we don’t have all the answers, we want to reassure our families, we will take care of your dietary needs one way or another.

Computerized Point of Sale

All schools in our district have a computerized point of sale, which allow parents to deposit money into their student’s account. All of our students have been assigned an ID number, which they have memorized. They will keep the same ID number from PreSchool all the way through the twelfth grade. When the student goes through the meal line, they will enter their student ID number into the pin pad. The system contains a student database, which will include a picture of the student along with the student’s information including their account balance.

Some additional points to remember are listed below:

  • Pre-payment for meals and milk by the week, month or year will be accepted any time.
  • Pre-payment on account is encouraged but not mandated. Students still have the option of purchasing their meals on a daily basis with cash.
  • Due to COVID-19, we prefer parents using PaySchoolsCentral or send in checks for their meal payments.
  • Please send check, cash or money order for pre-payment in a sealed envelope or Magic Meal envelope.
  • Make checks payable to your school's cafeteria.
  • “Magic Meal Envelopes” are available at your child’s elementary school or include the below information on any envelope.
    • Information on meal envelopes must include your child’s name and Student ID number.
  • Please do not combine meal money with other school fees on the same check or money order.
