School Safety

School Safety

The Barberton City School District provides two methods for students and adults to anonymously report threats to school safety. Information on the Safer Ohio School Tip line and Safe School Helpline can be found below.

Safer Ohio School Tip Line

Report Concerns for School Safety: 844-723-3764 or 844-SaferOH or https://app.saferohioschooltipline.com/

The tip line is an anonymous reporting system that accepts tips via call, text, webform, and mobile app 24 hours-a-day.

This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety — whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.

Things to report to the tip line include (but are not limited to):

  • Bullying incidents;
  • Withdrawn student behaviors;
  • Verbal or written threats observed toward students, faculty or schools;
  • Hazing;
  • Weapon/suspicious devices on or near school grounds;
  • Gang-related activities;
  • Unusual/suspicious behavior of students or staff;
  • Self-harm or suicidal sentiments; and
  • Any other school safety-related concerns.
Every tip can remain anonymous. Tip line technicians may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain anonymous or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.

Tips submitted to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are triaged and notify local school officials, law enforcement agencies, and the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) for action and follow-up as needed.

The OSSC partners with the Ohio Department of Education to follow up with affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure that the incident is investigated, action is taken and resources and supports are provided when necessary.

Safe School Helpline

Report concerns for school safety: 1-800-4-1-VOICE ext 359 or https://www.safeschoolhelpline.com/

If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit a report unless you have parental consent.

This Helpline has been developed for you, and other students, parents and staff members to help maintain your safety and the most positive school environment possible. The purpose of the Safe School Helpline is to promote school safety and report wrongdoings or illegal activity. Any type of information involving a threatening situation to students, the school or staff should be reported. Examples include thoughts of suicide or self-harm, violence, weapons, bullying, drugs and alcohol, and theft.

Before we proceed, there are several important things which you will need to know.

  • Your report will be sent to Security Voice to insure that you will remain anonymous. Security Voice is an independent service provider which is not part of your school.
  • Although your report will be sent to your school, no one from your school will receive your email address.
  • We are committed to keeping your identity confidential, unless you wish to give your name. Please disclose the information that you feel your school should know. In order to take action, your school must have the facts.
  • Please note that prank reports will not be tolerated and may be investigated.
  • When your school receives your report, they may have further questions. If they do, we will send them on to you via the email address you supply.
