The staff at Girls on the Run Northeast Ohio nominates Suzi Chiera for the Remarkable Coach award.
Anyone can be a coach. Anyone can be a leader. But not everyone can come to the starting line with the passion and commitment to enhance the lives of girls in their community quite like Suzi Chiera. Suzi is a mom, an educator, and a powerful force when it comes to the youth in her community. Her energizing spirit and constant smile will change the direction of anyone’s day the moment she walks into the room!
Suzi came to GOTR Northeast Ohio in the spring of 2019 and for the last six seasons has been working tirelessly to grow the program at the middle school where she teaches. She will be the first to tell you that coaches get just as much out of the program as our participants do. “Can I just say that Girls on the Run truly brings out the best in ME??!!” -Suzi Chiera
As the site liaison and a coach at Barberton Middle School, Suzi has led her teams through six seasons of fun all while being intentional in her efforts to help the girls take GOTR outside of GOTR. The lessons on Community have led her team to support local veterans and when COVID did not allow us to all be together for our season ending celebration, Suzi led her coaching team though planning a glow run for their girls!
Suzi never hesitates to show support to fellow GOTRNEO coaches by sharing her expert level Emburse skills and lesson tips and tricks in our private coach Facebook group! She truly leads with gratitude and a big, open heart in all she does.
We provide our coaches with the tools, training and support needed to lead their teams, but our coaches provide the compassion, joy, and optimism needed to make GOTR the best experience for the girls in their communities and we could not do what we do without them.
