3/12 3/13 Updated Statements on COVID-19
State of Ohio government officials have updated their recommendations regarding the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), and all Pre-K-12 school buildings must now close, effective Tuesday March 17, 2020, for at least 3 weeks.

This begins March 17 so families have enough time to plan and prepare. After 3 weeks, the situation will be re-evaluated by state officials. All school activities are cancelled during this time.

In Barberton, our Spring Break begins April 6. This means that our students will be out of the school buildings starting March 17 and will return on April 13, when they were originally scheduled to return from Spring Break.

Additionally, Governor DeWine banned gatherings of 100 or more people in a public place. As a result, we have to cancel the performances of Mary Poppins as well.

Despite this news, our staff has made a plan to support the education needs of your student.

Packets of academic work for each student will be sent home tomorrow, Friday March 13. This work needs to be completed. This curriculum is aligned with state testing requirements for each grade level and each child.

Our outstanding BCSD staff is poised and ready to help our students and families keep moving forward, ready to learn even during these uncertain times.

Stay healthy, stay safe, heave in your sleeve and wash your hands!!!
