3/12 Statement on COVID-19

Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:

We are carefully watching the COVID-19 (coronavirus) news in the state of Ohio and are in regular contact with public health officials.

At this time, there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in Summit County.

While we monitor this we want to remind everyone that they can help be leaders for students in our community by following these recommended steps from our healthcare experts:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly - with soap and water for at least 20 seconds per cleaning -  many times per day.

  2. Wash your hands thoroughly after using the restroom, before and after eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (60%+ alcohol-based).

  3. Avoid close contact with people who are ill.

  4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  5. If you are sick, stay home (but get your coursework from your teachers so your student isn’t falling behind).

  6. Cover our mouth if you are coughing.

  7. If you use a tissue, discard it in the trash.

  8. Clean and disinfect your home regularly.

Please know we will always take appropriate action as guided by public health officials. We are currently deep cleaning and sanitizing each building each day. We are also finalizing plans in case the state or public health officials call for school closures.

As we are not healthcare professionals, all we can do is share with you some of the resources we are using:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Ohio Department of Health

Summit County Public Health Organization

If you have school or district-related questions, please contact us. If you have healthcare related questions we recommend you contact your healthcare providers or some of the many awesome resources we have in our community like Summa and AxessPointe.
