Mr. Mike Andric became the third principal in Barberton Middle School history on August 1, 2017, succeeding Mrs. Joyce Walker (2013-2017) and Mrs. Judy Myers (2010-2013).
Mr. Andric began his teaching career at Barberton High School in 2005, where he taught in the math department for nine years. As a teacher, Mr. Andric was directly involved in the success of the Bonnie Myers College Access Program and implementing Upward Bound at BHS. In 2010, Mr. Andric was selected Teacher of the Year for Barberton High School and the Barberton City School District. He was also a finalist for the Ohio Teacher of the Year.
The Greater Akron Chamber recognized Mr. Andric with a "30 for the Future
" Award in 2013.
Mr. Andric was named Career and College Readiness Principal at Barberton High School in 2014. In that position he lead several building-wide initiatives that helped senior students focus on the three E's (Employment, Enlistment, or Enrollment).
Mr. Andric is excited to begin his tenure at Barberton Middle School. His goals include developing an anti-bullying culture at BMS and focusing academics around foundational vocabulary and math fluency. “I see this school as an essential bridge between the elementary schools and the high schools. I am excited to continue building a safe and welcoming climate so each student can reach his or her goals.”
